A Building Permit Application is required for the construction of, improvement to or alteration of any building, structure, or property.
A Plumbing Fixture Permit Application is required for the installation of new/replacement plumbing fixtures or plumbing system alterations/extensions.
A Gas Permit Application is required for the installation, modification or removal of existing gas appliances, gas-fired water heaters, gas-fired burners, gas-fired generators, liquefied petroleum gas (propane, butane, etc.) storage tanks, and/or gas piping.
An HVAC/Mechanical Permit Application is required for the installation of a new or modification of an existing HVAC/Mechanical unit and/or ductwork; Commercial Kitchen Hoods and Geothermal Heating and/or Cooling Units.
An Oil Permit Application is required for the installation of a new, modification of an existing or removal of oil-fired burners, water heaters, generators, and/or fuel oil (home heating oil, diesel, kerosene) storage tanks.
A Drainage Permit Application is required for the installation of a new or modification to / removal of an existing drainage system such as drywells, French drains and trench drains.
An Infrastructure Permit Application is required for the installation of a new or modification to / removal of an existing sewer/septic line or main water service line.
A Sprinkler Permit Application is required for the installation of a new or modification to / removal of an existing fire sprinkler system.
A Fence Permit Application is required for the installation, replacement, or removal of any and all fencing on properties.
A Demolition Permit Application is required for the demolition of a building or structure or part thereof.
An Electrical Equipment Permit Application is required for the installation of new, modification of an existing or removal of Electrical Equipment Systems such as emergency back-up power units, electric car charging stations and similar electrical equipment.
A Solar Panel Permit is required for the installation of a new or modification to / removal of an existing solar panel system.

A Public Assembly License Application must be filed by all establishments to conduct, maintain, or operate a place of assembly or allow, let or permit property, a building or part thereof to be used as or for a place of public assembly.
A Tree Removal Permit Application is required for the removal of trees in the front yard of a home with a diameter of 6 inches as measured at a height of 4½ feet above the base of the trunk. Properties on a corner lot are considered to have 2 front yards
A House Number Change Application is required to petition the Town Board to change the street address of a property or have street addresses assigned to new parcels that are created through subdivisions.
A Certificate of Existing Use Application is required to obtain a certificate for any structure for which there is no record with the Town of North Hempstead. If it is determined that the structure has been altered subsequent to 1929, evidence must be provided indicating that the additional work has received a Certificate of Completion.
A Tent Permit is required for the erection and use of a Temporary Tent and Canopy structure.
A Temporary Structure Permit is required for the placement of a structure such as a storage pod, scaffolding, temporary office trailer or mobile home on a private property.
A Sign Permit is required for the installation, placement, alteration and/or repair of billboards, wall signs, ground signs, tower signs, hanging/blade, gasoline station signs, marquees, or awnings on a property.
An Elevator and Conveyance Permit Application is required for installation of elevators, escalators, moving walks, platform & wheelchair Lifts, stairway chairlifts and other automated lifts.
A Subdivision Application must be filed with the Building Department in order for a proposed subdivision to be reviewed for compliance with all applicable regulations of the Town of North Hempstead Zoning Code.
A Storm Water Pollution Prevention Permit Application must be filed whenever more than one acre of land will be disturbed during construction.
A Floodplain Permit Permit Application is required for all construction that will occur within a designated flood plain as shown on FEMA Flood Zone Maps.
A Rental Occupancy Permit is required for all one- and two-family homes, condos, townhouses, apartment complexes, multiple residencies and mixed-use occupancy buildings which are being or going to be rented. Rental Occupancy Permits are renewed every two years.
An Antenna Location Permit Application is required to install or maintain new Wireless Telecommunications Facilities for each specific carrier at a site, including Small Cell Facilities.
